A Grand Chum Chum and Fanboy Birthday Celebration

There is no more cherished love throughout the land
Than that felt for little children by their parents grand
To them these fond offspring are so precious and fine
That they have forgotten the need to draw any line
On behaviour to others which might appear somewhat extreme
For to them it’s enough that they have joined the home team.

Although in our own family count there are only really two
But boys make a sound enough for a full cabin crew
As parents we had only been used to placid girls before
And a transition to boisterous chaos was at first a little sore
But now we have grown accustomed to the patter of tiny feet
No to mention jumping and leaping and grinding of teeth.

Ornaments and plants have been moved to a high shelf
And drawers and cabinets have been locked with the delph
The cat have been put in the shed for his own safe fare
The hen coop cordoned off and a sign erected ‘beware.’
Still they are really only aged one three and one six
So we should concentrate instead on taking their picts.

With names like James Alesana and Sean Moses
They have to be loved unconditionally one supposes
In order to protect their privacy I can’d post their face
But I can assure you that on broad smiles I rest my case
Their cartoon nicknames are Chum Chum and Fanboy
But to us at least they are undoubtedly an ever present joy.

So on Sunday we are having a very special celebration
And for one day we will forget the woes of the nation
James Alesana will be three on that Celebration Day
So whether in rain or shine we will gladly ‘make hay’
We will toast his humour, his fun and his jigsaw skill
Which already astounds us all as he can do them at will.

But we can’t end yet without praising Little Sean so tall
Who for this grandad at least has simply no rival at all
So to our birthday celebration I now raise a long glass
For to us our grandchildren will always be first class
This verse asserts that all children are a joy not a trouble
So enjoy them while you can and don’t live life in a bubble!
